About Our Daycare
Garderie Park Place is a private, non-subsidized daycare serving Dorval and the West Island. We are well situated for families coming from all directions, just south of the Dorval circle. We offer a learn-through-play approach to education and are proud to have beautiful, bright and spacious areas, both inside and out. Many of our skilled educators have been with us for more than ten years, offering stability and a true sense of community.
Our Approach: Learn Through Play
Play is at the heart of everything we do. Through both child-led and educator-guided experiences, children build language, social, emotional, and cognitive skills while developing confidence and independence. Our educators thoughtfully design activities that are purposeful and engaging, while remaining flexible and responsive to each child's evolving needs and interests.
Our Philosophy
At Garderie Park Place, we believe that children thrive when they feel supported, understood, and inspired. Through strong partnerships with families, we create a consistent and nurturing environment. By honouring each child's unique identity, we foster confidence and a sense of belonging. Through meaningful opportunities for exploration, we encourage curiosity, discovery, and a lifelong love of learning.
In Partnership with Families
“It takes a village” is more than a cliché at Park Place.
As parents ourselves, we understand how important it is to truly partner with families when caring for their children. Open communication is essential — from your child's first transition from home to daycare, through every move from class to class, we communicate openly with you and support both parents and children. When life gets particularly difficult, we have additional resources to help — including a Pedagogical Specialist and a Child Behaviour Specialist whom we consult when needed. As a fully private facility we are also able to fine-tune our procedures to better meet the needs of our families. Our parent-led Toilet Readiness Policy and our afternoon Quiet Room — created in response to parent feedback — are two recent examples of that partnership in action.
Identity: every child discovers who they are by being allowed to be
A learn-through-play approach is not the same as free play.
While free play is an important component of every classroom, our educational philosophy also includes intentional, structured play experiences. These are carefully planned to help children discover their unique strengths while fostering confidence, independence, and a strong sense of self. Our educators play alongside children while also observing their development. These observations are recorded regularly and used to thoughtfully tailor future activities, ensuring each child is supported in reaching important milestones at their own pace. Parents are kept informed through daily agenda updates and formal Developmental Profiles issued twice a year.
Exploration: children see magic because they look for it
— Christopher Moore
Exploration is fundamental to childhood. From the moment children enter the world, each day brings something new to discover. Our skilled educators design activities and themes that invite children to explore both their developing identities and their surroundings — beginning with simple social interactions in our youngest groups, and gradually expanding to broader interests as they grow. Beyond our indoor classrooms, our specially designed outdoor space incorporates natural elements, interactive play areas, learning stations, and educational tools — inviting children to explore freely, spark their imagination, and engage in meaningful learning experiences.
